FROM SMALL BUSINESS TO INTERNATIONAL BRAND

1948
Franz Sikora lays the foundation for today's company in a small wooden shack measuring 6 x 6 meters in Ternberg, Upper Austria. Decorative furniture fittings made of plastic, die-cast zinc, brass and wood are still manufactured at this location today.
1985
"SIBU Design" is founded as another production company in Ternberg. This company has successfully specialized in the production of decorative design panels for all areas of interior design, shop window design and high-quality packaging.
1987

To better serve the markets in the USA, a distribution company called “SIRO Design” was founded.

At the same time, a sales organization for the entire Federal Republic of Germany was founded with headquarters in Hilden near Solingen. This company was founded in 1999 as a 100 percent subsidiary of SIRO Austria and renamed “SIRO Germany GmbH”.

1989

A partner company is founded in Greece, specializing in the production of furniture fittings made of brass.

In 1989, the business activities were expanded to the Asian region by establishing a partner company in Taiwan. The company specialised in the production of furniture fittings using the metal die-casting process with a wide range of surface finishes, as well as fittings made of porcelain. This opened up SIRO the opportunity to use a new product group for worldwide distribution.

1995
With certification according to the quality standard ISO 9001, SIRO an important step in the qualitative development of the company.
1996
As the first manufacturer of decorative wooden furniture fittings, SIRO the “FSC certificate”. This award certifies that SIRO only local wood from controlled forests is processed.
1999
The acquisition of a production plant in Poland – specializing in turned wooden parts – brings a significant development of the range of furniture fittings. SIRO Since then, Bielsko has been producing FSC-certified, decorative furniture fittings from local woods.
2001
SIBU Design becomes an independent company.
2008
The SIRO-Products are finding their way into the caravan and motorhome industry. A wide range of decorative fittings and system components such as maneuvering handles, locking systems and much more make SIRO a valuable partner for the caravan industry.
2009
SIRO opens an internal toolmaking facility for customers from other industries and produces high-precision tools for the plastics industry. Well-known companies from home and abroad can be acquired as customers.
Under the name of SIRO Plastics technology produces SIRO a variety of technical plastic parts for a wide range of industries.
2013
With SIRO Special Lighting lays the foundation for the introduction of a new concept of residential lighting components. The continuous development in this product segment has resulted in a wide range of products for furniture lighting.
2016
Company founder and senior boss Joseph Sikora dies at the age of 88. Josef Sikora was managing director of SIRO and remained loyal to the company in an advisory capacity even after his withdrawal from operational business.
2017
In order to be prepared for the future, another plot of land is purchased adjacent to the existing property in Dürnbach to expand the site.
SIBU Design gets a new shareholder structure.
2018
The new warehouse built on the existing property in Plant II in Dürnbach goes into operation.
2020
The caravan business area is expanded.
2021
The office building was modernized by renovating the roof, renovating windows and sun protection, and expanding electromobility with charging stations for electric cars.
2022
Sustainability efforts continued by adapting open spaces for photovoltaics (PV) to use solar energy to generate electricity.
2023
During this year, increased investments in renewable energy were made and PV systems with capacities of 127 kWp and 369 kWp were installed. At the same time, manufacturing technologies were expanded, including 3D printing capacities, as well as the purchase of a modern laser cutting and marking system in order to increase efficiency and improve the quality of the products.
2024
In the high-bay warehouse, the hall roof with an area of ​​750 m² was renovated, including new thermal insulation and roof covering. In addition, a photovoltaic system with a total output of 2 kWp was put into operation on open spaces and the hall roof at Plant 410.
2025
Additional photovoltaic systems are being prepared for Plant 1. In addition, the e-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is being expanded.
